The Fever Code is one of the prequels from The Maze Runner trilogy. If The Kill Order explained 11 years ago before flare destroyed the world and how WICKED became the biggest organization in the world. Then, The Fever Code explained two years after WICKED became the biggest organization. Moreover, this novel explains Thomas’ life and his friends in the WICKED and how the maze formed from WICKED. Furthermore, it also has flashbacks about Newt’s life and his younger sister.
The prologue narrates the beginning life of Newt and his younger sister which called Lizzy. After that, his parents were murdered by WICKED in the winter. Furthermore, WICKED brought him and his younger sister to WICKED for objects. Lizzy changed her name, but WICKED did not change Newt’s name. It only explained at once. His younger sister believed that WICKED would find medicine for her elder brother — in this part, we realized that Newt was not immune to flare. Someday he will die because of the flare.
In addition, part one explained how Thomas became part of WICKED. His first name was Stephen. He was brought by Randall went to WICKED’s office. It began with how Thomas helped WICKED. In point of fact, he did not feel sincere as Dr. Paige thought, and it was the same if he rebelled and hated the government of WICKED.
This novel is examined from Thomas’s perspective. Hence, Thomas began his friendship with Teresa. Furthermore, it also explicated Thomas’ friendship with Minho, Alby, and Newt. I like the friendship because their friendship is cute also it was the best friendship I ever saw before. Narrated how they hoped to find the serum. Nonetheless, the bitter truth was they became part of the experiment from WICKED as the first experiment in the glade for two years.
The reality showed they were still the same person, but WICKED erased their memories. The first time, Thomas already rebelled in different ways. He wondered about the betrayal of dr. Paige and Teresa; made him feel disappointed in them, but Thomas never realized if Teresa betrayed him.
The story’s plot is good and not monotonous as The Kill Order, but it does not explain the relationship between Newt and his younger sister. This novel is interesting because it also examines how WICKED became the biggest organization in the world. Hence, it explains Thomas’ friendship. In the first time was good but ended up with disappointment, two of them whereas they kept the friendship. Then, he also described the relationship between Thomas and Chuck Thomas thought Chuck was his younger brother, and it was the same as before.
Besides that, the novel criticizes the government because sometimes they merely prioritize their importance instead of solving the problem in their country, as the public cannot do something because we do not have power. We solely write our aspirations in mass media or do the demonstration. Hence, I also realized that if we don’t have to trust anyone. Betrayal can happen to everyone.

Thomas accepted the bitter truth, but he will never forget the betrayal of dr. Paige and Teresa to him.
